United Airlines Wi-Fi cost: prices and plans (2026)

Short answer

On Starlink aircraft Wi-Fi is free — but only for MileagePlus members, and non-members cannot buy it at all. On the rest of the fleet it is $8 (or 800 miles) for members and $10 for everyone else on US domestic and short-haul international; long-haul prices are not published.

United Wi-Fi subscription
Requires a MileagePlus account. You pick a region — North and Central America, or global — and it only works on flights inside that region. Region changes take up to 24 hours. MileagePlus cardholders get 25% back on subscription purchases.
Monthly, unlimited, one device at a time; region-lockedfrom $49 or 7,500 miles

Worth knowing before you pay

  • Free Starlink Wi-Fi is MileagePlus-only, and United explicitly says non-members cannot pay to use it.
  • You cannot pay with miles on Wi-Fi-enabled regional jets (E175/E170, CRJ 550/700).
  • Streaming is not included in the subscription; it is a limited-time freebie on select aircraft such as the 737 MAX 9 and United reserves the right to charge for it.
  • A subscription is one device at a time, and your MileagePlus number must be used to sign in on board.
  • 737s and DIRECTV-equipped aircraft only have satellite coverage within the continental US; two-cabin regional aircraft are limited to the continental US and Canada.
  • Voice and video calls are prohibited.

How we know

Checked against United Airlines's own Wi-Fi page on 2026-08-02.

What we could not confirm:

  • Long-haul international per-flight prices.
  • The exact SSID broadcast on board (United's page says only "our Wi-Fi network").
  • Annual subscription pricing and the global-region price point.

Airlines change these terms without notice. Treat this as a strong prior, not a guarantee.
