Does Turkish Airlines Wi-Fi work over the ocean?

Usually yes on the main corridors, but expect it to feel slow — Turkish Airlines relies on geostationary satellites.
Why, in one paragraph
A geostationary satellite sits over the equator and covers a fixed footprint. The busy North Atlantic and transpacific tracks are well served; the gaps are polar routings and remote stretches of the Southern Hemisphere. The bigger day-to-day problem is not coverage but delay.
Turkish Airlines flies Viasat, Panasonic and Inmarsat. All of it is geostationary, so the delay below applies to the whole fleet — there is no lucky aircraft to hope for. Policy context: Wi-Fi is installed on the large majority of the fleet — over 300 of roughly 343 aircraft. Access is tiered by Miles&Smiles status with a free messaging tier; full sessions are paid for most economy passengers. An earlier ambition to make Wi-Fi free fleet-wide was never delivered and has not been re-announced.

The part nobody tells you
Coverage maps show where a satellite's beam reaches. They do not show how long the signal takes to get there and back, which is what actually decides whether a call is usable.
This is why a geostationary connection can report a healthy speed and still make a video call unusable: bandwidth is fine, the delay is not. It is also why the fix is a different orbit, not a faster plan.
