Is Lufthansa Wi-Fi free? Who gets it, and when
Short answer
Only for some passengers. Full Wi-Fi is free for HON Circle members and connecting First Class passengers and First Class passengers. Travel ID and Miles & More members get free messaging.
Who flies free
- Travel ID and Miles & More membersFree messaging onlyFree unlimited messaging on both short/medium-haul and long-haul flights.
- HON Circle members and connecting First Class passengersFull Wi-Fi, freeFree premium access on short/medium-haul when logged in with a Miles & More or Travel ID account.
- First Class passengersFull Wi-Fi, freeFree premium access on long-haul, on Lufthansa-operated flights.
Worth knowing before you pay
- Prices change with demand and time of day, so the long-haul figures are floors, not fixed fares.
- Passes are per flight: once redeemed, the access code is only valid for that flight.
- Continental and intercontinental vouchers are not interchangeable, and you cannot yet buy one pass covering both legs of a trip.
- Vouchers are valid for the calendar year of purchase plus three following years, single use.
- Deutsche Telekom roaming login is an alternative, but it bills as international roaming — request credentials by texting 'Open' to 9526 before you travel.
- The FlyNet app is optional; it exists mainly to pre-purchase at a discount.
How we know
Checked against Lufthansa's own Wi-Fi page on 2026-08-02.
What we could not confirm:
- The provider is not named on the FlyNet page.
- Deutsche Telekom shop prices, which Lufthansa says differ from its own.
Airlines change these terms without notice. Treat this as a strong prior, not a guarantee.
