Worth knowing before you pay

  • Free Wi-Fi is for AAdvantage members only — it is not free for all passengers.
  • Which provider you get changes the portal and the refund path: the portal shows "Wi-Fi Onboard (provided by Intelsat)", "Connected by Viasat" or "Service provided by Panasonic".
  • Card statements appear as AA WIFI, WIFIONBOARD, VIASAT IN-FLIGHT WIFI or AA-WIFI BY PANASONIC — useful when hunting a charge.

How we know

Checked against American Airlines's own Wi-Fi page on 2026-08-02.

What we could not confirm:

  • The full 'Plans and pricing' table is behind an expandable panel that did not render; only the "as little as $10" floor could be confirmed.
  • Subscription plan price and regions.
  • Whether a free messaging tier exists for non-members.

Airlines change these terms without notice. Treat this as a strong prior, not a guarantee.
